Lens Options
Transition Lenses
Transition is the lens of choice for those who desire a changing tint that will lighten or darken according to amount of UV exposure. The lens darkens in the sunlight and lightens when indoors or dimly lit places.
Ultraviolet Protection
The sun is the primary source of ultraviolet rays. We can also be exposed through fluorescent lighting and computer terminals. Ultraviolet protection applied to the lens absorbs the harmful ultraviolet light, which may also help in preventing cataracts.
Scratch Resistant Coating
You can now apply a protective layer on your lenses that reduces scratching by at least 80% more than conventional plastic lenses
Anti-Reflective Coating
Often our eyes feel strained and tired because of glare and ghost images from streetlights, headlights, fluorescent lights, and computer monitors. The anti-reflective coating reduces glare and increases contrast, which also enhances visual acuity.
Polarized Lenses
Polarized lenses are the lens of choice for your sunglasses. The polarization protects your eyes from the glare caused by the sun on any surface such as water, sand, snow, and automobiles Polarized lenses are good for any outdoor activities like fishing, skiing, and boating.
Lens Materials
High Index Lenses
High-Index is a thinner and lighter weight material that allows high prescriptions appear cosmetically attractive. It reduces eye magnification for those with farsighted prescriptions, minimizes lens thickness on the edges of nearsighted prescriptions, thus allowing more frame choices.
Polycarbonate Lenses
Polycarbonate is the lens of choice for children and adults with an active lifestyle. It is the most impact-resistant lens available, lighter than plastic, and has built-in ultraviolet protection. For safety reasons, Atlantis will only provide polycarbonate lenses to children under 18.
Plastic (CR 39) Lenses
Plastic lenses are half the weight of glass lenses. They can be tinted almost any color and shade.
Lens Design
Single Vision
This lens is used either for distance or near vision correction. It is available in all materials.
Bifocals
Bifocals provide both distance and near correction in one lens. They come in two sizes: FT-28 and FT-35.
Trifocals
Trifocal is a bifocal lens plus an intermediate correction portion that allows clear vision for computer distance.
Progressives
Progressive lenses allow uninterrupted vision at all distances – distance, intermediate, and near. The lens gradually transitions from distance to near. It is available in all materials.
