Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Rejuvenation)
As we age, the skin above and below our upper eyelids begins to droop and sag giving way to an old, tired look. This excess skin produces a “hooded” effect which can limit your peripheral vision. Also, the elasticity of our skin weakens and allows pockets of fat to form. This creates the appearance of puffiness. The lower lids may develop “bags.” The removal of this excess skin and fat around the eyes is the procedure called blepharoplasty.
Contemplating facial plastic surgery or eyelid rejuvenation? Add Lymphatic Drainage Massage pre and post op to flush out the stagnant fluids. This decreases bruising and speeds recovery time. It is also a great treatment to add into a facial service for swelling, sinus and allergy conditions. This is a very relaxing 30-minute light massage on the head and neck.
None of us can turn back the hands of time, but after this remarkable cosmetic procedure, you will regain the natural contour of your eyelids, thereby yielding a fresher, more alert, and youthful look.

Lid surgery is not only a cosmetic procedure, but may be warranted if you have Ptosis. Ptosis is usually a congenital drooping of one or both upper lids, and can affect children or adults. It can also be progressive and unilateral. Ptosis limits the upper peripheral field of vision and if unilateral, can give an unbalanced appearance of the face. Surgery is done to correct the levator muscle and lift the eyelid for an improved field of vision.
Other conditions which may require lid surgery are Ectropion and Entropion. These are conditions which usually occur as a result of aging. Ectropion is the turning outward of the lower eyelids. This can cause redness, tearing and discomfort. Surgery will correct the looseness of the lower lids and return them to a normal position. Entropion is the turning inward of the lower lids. This causes the eyelashes to rub against the eye and can result in infection. Irritation, redness, and pain can occur because of this malformation of the lower lids. Lower lid surgery will correct this and the symptoms will disappear.
