Mary Ma, O.D.
Dr. Mary Ma is a residency trained and California board-licensed optometrist whose focus is on comprehensive primary eye care with the treatment and management of eye related conditions. She also is the low vision optometrist for Atlantis Eye Care.
Dr. Ma strives to educate the community about the importance of regular eye health care while providing patients with the necessary recommendations (surgical and non-surgical) to optimize their visual needs. She is glad to be part of the Atlantis Eye Care group and is excited to continue providing eye care to the community where she grew up.
Her residency training at the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration Medical Center emphasized the treatment and management of ocular disease such as diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration. In addition to performing low vision exams and prescribing high powered magnifiers, Dr. Ma co-manages cataract surgeries (monofocal, toric and multifocal lens implants), refractive surgery, and other ocular surgery (blepharoplasty, pterygiectomy).
Dr. Ma graduated from the University of California Los Angeles with a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry followed by a Doctorate of Optometry degree from University of California Berkeley. After completing her Doctorate of Optometry with honors, Dr. Ma completed an accredited residency program in geriatrics and primary eye care at the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration Medical Center. At the VA medical center, Dr. Ma also served as a clinical instructor to optometry interns where she emphasized the importance of patient communication and education.
